This project represented a number of firsts – my first time working with York’s Off The Rock Productions and my first stage acting role.
The Damask Room was an evening of 10 short plays – all new writing – concerning new takes on classic nursery rhymes. As you might expect, this lead to some bizarre and unsettling pieces!
The brief for the music was relatively simple – a ‘theme’ was required which would play before the show and between each play, and two of the plays required an atmosphere that was piped into the room while the action on stage took place.
I must confess, a majority of my energy went on learning lines, and rehearsing the acting part of my responsibilities, but I very much enjoyed working with Off The Rock and already have plans to undertake further projects with them.
