I was lucky enough to be approached by York Settlement Community Players to provide a brand new play for their Direct Approach initiative, which gives opportunities for new directors.
My play “Safe as Houses” takes place in – where else – a safe house, where four criminals convene to await further instructions after a bank robbery.
However, as the play goes on, it becomes clear that in fact, none of them are what they seem – did anyone even rob the bank at all?
Eventually an unexpected visitor arrives and turns everyone’s world upside down…
As usual with YSCP productions, the cast and director were fantastic and brought my script to life incredibly well. The play ran for three nights at the Eagle and Child in York, to full houses.
